Caitriona O’Neill, Accelerate CIC
Caitriona O’Neill
Director of Clinical Services and Lymphoedema
Accelerate CIC

Caitriona trained as a Registered General Nurse at Waterford Regional Hospital in the 1990s before moving to London to pursue a career in palliative care. Her passion for palliative care led to a keen interest in lymphedema, particularly in addressing the lack of service provision and variation in care. In 2008, Caitriona joined the wound and lymphoedema team as the new Lymphoedema Service was launching for Tower Hamlets, which was then part of the primary care trust. Caitriona is one of the founding members of the Accelerate CIC wound and Lymphoedema team, a social enterprise (not for profit) that spun out of the NHS in 2011. A significant focus of Caitriona's work with Accelerate CIC has been expanding access to lymphedema services in other boroughs within Northeast London, where there was previously no provision. From 2017 to 2023, Caitriona served as a proud trustee for the British Lymphology Society.
