Sarah has worked within the NHS for 27 years, with most of her career spent in Community Nursing, where her passion for lymphatics began. After training in lymphoedema care and working as part of the Airedale NHS Trust Lymphoedema Service, Sarah took on the role of Lead Lymphoedema Specialist Nurse at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust.
In this role, she provided lymphoedema care for both cancer and non-cancer patients across Calderdale and Huddersfield, as well as out-of-area patients. Her responsibilities also included covering the Harrogate Lymphoedema Service for 18 months. Sarah successfully built a team of six specialist nurses, managing an active caseload of 2,000 patients.
Sarah is particularly passionate about lower leg healing, focusing on education and promoting self-management. Her efforts led to a significant improvement in lower leg healing rates—from 21% within 12 weeks to consistently over 90% by encouraging early compression across community nursing services.
